She partners with organizations to design, enhance or implement ESG that drives performance. Her experience spans Real Estate, Infrastructure, and Agriculture in both equity and debt.
Since 2008, Catherine has consulted with a wide variety of global asset owners and investment managers. Previously, she held senior roles including Head of Research and Strategy, Real Estate, Canada Pension Plan Investments; Senior Vice President Research and Strategy, LaSalle Investment Management; and Associate Portfolio Manager, British Columbia Investment Management Corp. Catherine has also held the role of Associate Partner, Global Real Estate, Aon Investment Consulting. Early in her career she managed stock portfolios as Associate Portfolio Manager, Genus Capital Management.
Catherine is a leading voice on ESG in real assets in Canada and globally and has been awarded the highly recognized Sustainability and Climate Risk credential by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (SCR®). She is the ESG columnist for the Canadian Investment Review, the Vice-Chair and ESG specialist on the Editorial Committee of Association of Canadian Pension Management, and has spoken at more than 50 industry conferences across North America and globally. She is the past Treasurer and Executive Committee of the Canada Green Building Council Toronto Chapter, and has sat on other sustainability committees.
She is an active leader in the investment and real estate industries and is past Chair, Risk Management and Alternative Investments Committee, CFA Society Toronto; past Treasurer of the Canada Green Building Council Greater Toronto, and past Chapter Programming Co-Chair, Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW). She is a spokesman for the CFA Society Toronto, and has been quoted in major media including the Globe&Mail, the National Post and CBC Radio.
Her investment skills have been recognized as a member of two teams winning highly coveted REX (Real Estate Excellence) Awards from the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
Catherine holds the CFA designation, she has an undergraduate degree in Economics and Urban Studies from Queen’s University, and a Master’s in Economics and Finance from Simon Fraser University. In addition to the SCR®, Catherine has numerous certificates in Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Reporting (TCFD) reporting.
Monique defended her thesis at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany in collaboration with the University of California Davis, USA in 2010. She coordinated the Center for Supramolecular Interactions in Berlin before starting a postdoctoral training in Paris, France. She then contributed to the private sector by scouting new technologies nurturing R&D strategies of major global companies, then worked in the IP law office Lavoix in Paris before joining the Groupe Nutriset as Head of Innovation, developing new products and processes.
She strongly believes that innovation through all its forms, from technology scouting to implementing new ways of thinking in organizations, contributes to reaching the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Currently, she has taken upon the challenge to build bridges between different fields of expertise (nutrition, agronomy, industry, health) from academic and private sectors to work together.
